Andreas Lauter
Naturwacht Brandenburg
Andreas Lauter has worked for more than 30 years as a ranger for the Brandenburg nature guard. The total of 87 rangers in Brandenburg are out and about in the 15 National Natural Landscapes covering around 9,000 square kilometres - a third of the state's area - collecting data on animal and plant populations, groundwater levels and the quality of bodies of water. They implement numerous nature and species conservation measures in the national park, the three biosphere reserves and the eleven nature parks and monitor their success.
At the same time, the 87 rangers are important contacts for everyone who lives, works or visits the National Natural Landscapes. Every year they accompany around 10,000 interested people on more than 500 guided ranger tours, share their knowledge and raise awareness of proper behaviour in the protected areas.
