To say that Kash Bhattacharya is well-traveled is something of an understatement. Born in the UK, Kash grew up in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and took his first trip to Ireland to study when he was 20. He caught the bug. He’s been writing about travel for almost ten years – it’s been his full-time lifestyle since 2012. Winner of the 2016 National Geographic “Traveller’s Blogger of the Year,” he’s the founder and editor of the BudgetTraveller blog, and currently celebrating the soon to be released book, The Grand Hostels: Luxury Hostels of the World by Berlin-based Gestalten Verlag. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, Vanity Fair, and National Geographic, among others.
We caught up with him before his appearance at the first Berlin Travel Night to ask him about life on the road, how hostels have changed over the last two decades, and, of course, his favorite destination to date. Meet Kash in person and find out how he travels the world in style on a budget, at Berlin Travel Night this Thursday, August 30 at Parker Bowles in Berlin.
