While all know that conscious travel is a good thing, allowing for important cultural exchanges and spiritual growth, it is impossible to ignore the environmental impact of travel and the urgent need to curb the habit of constant budget flights.
If we truly believe that “the journey is the destination,” then we can certainly plan slower journeys that involve more of travel by train. Germany’s newly-introduced FlixTrain service, for example, represents something of a revolution in the pricing of rail travel, akin to the sudden emergence of budget flights around the turn of the century.
Meanwhile, companies like Liverpool’s Gone West or the Berlin-based Atmosfair offer many ways to “cleanse” your carbon footprint, either by using their affiliate links when you book, by signing up for a carbon offset subscription, or developing and financing renewable energies.
