The 34-year-old mountain guide and alpinist Simon Gietl grew up in the South Tyrolean Pustertal - with mountains always in sight.
At the age of 18 he discovered his passion for extreme climbing. Together with the Swiss Roger Schäli, he sets off on his first major expedition: To the Fitz Roy in the Argentine-Chilean Andes.
Since then, Simon has regularly been on major expeditions and has become a professional mountain guide and extreme climber as well as has received several awards for his achievements. In 2016 he was awarded with the renowned "Grignetta d'Oro" prize, granting recognition as the best alpinist in Italy. He is also a member of the international alpineXtrem Team of Salewa.
