Marco d'Eramo was born in Rome (Italy) in 1947. He got a master degree in Theoretical Physics at the University La Sapienza of Rome, where he was researcher in 1971-72. After moving to Paris, he attended the seminar of Roland Barthes and then he studied Sociology with Pierre Bourdieu. In 1978 he moved back to Rome and since 1980, for 32 years, he works for the daily leftist newspaper il manifesto, holding many positions. Since 1992 through 2012 he has been special correspondent in the United States.
Now he writes for The New Left Review, Die Tageszeitung, Lettre International, Micromega. Among his many books are "The Pig and the Skyscraper.", "Chicago: An History of Our Future" and "The World in a Selfie", which has been translated in German by Suhrkamp (2018) ("Die Welt im Selfie. Eine Besichtigung des touristischen Zeitalters").
