Photojournalist, author, lecturer
Lutz Jäkel is a photojournalist, author and lecturer and studied Islamic Studies and History in Hamburg, Damascus (Syria) and Sanaa (Yemen). Growing up in Istanbul as a child, he has been traveling and photographing the world and writing about it for many years. His work has won many awards and is marketed by the renowned photo agency laif in Cologne.
His photos and reportages appear in books, magazines and newspapers, for example in Stern, Spiegel, National Geographic, abenteuer und reisen, Spiegel Online, GEO, GEO Saison, Merian, Süddeutsche Zeitung, zenith - Zeitschrift für den Orient, Marco Polo Reiseführer, ADAC Reisemagazin, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung and many others.
Together with his Cuban wife Dayami Grasso Toledano he lives in Berlin.
