Franz Widmer

Head of Mammut Alpine School
After he had already climbed all the trees around his parents' house, Franz Widmer went rock climbing for the first time at the age of eleven - and eventually even made this passion his profession. Born in Switzerland, Widmer initially worked as a professional climber and became part of the Mammut athlete team in Switzerland. After years of freelancing in this position for Mammut, and for example opened new climbing routes, he finally became a permanent employee of the Mammut Alpine School, the first mountain school to be owned by the company, in 2009.

Today he is leading the school, which aims to combine the Mammut brand with real outdoor experiences. The Mammut Alpine School offers a comprehensive training and tour programme in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
