Dr. André Baumeister studied geography and geology at the Ruhr University in Bochum until 2009, worked as a research assistant until 2014 and has been a lecturer at his home university ever since. In addition to longer research stays in Israel, Senegal and various internships in the USA, Peru, southern Spain and Switzerland, he has led numerous excursions to the Alpine region, South Africa, Norway and Spitsbergen.
His work focuses on landscape development, hydrology, glaciology and work with geoinformation systems. He deals with science communication, environmental education and excursion didactics.
In 2017 he founded FRAM, an organiser of scientifically guided excursions.
