Alina Rudya

Alina Rudya was born 1985 in Ukraine and grew up in Kyiv after being evacuated from the infamous town of Prypyat after the Chernobyl Nuclear Catastrophe of 1986. After finishing her studies in political studies and journalism, she continued her education in photography at the Lette-Verein School of Design and University of Arts Berlin as well as Parsons New School of Design in New York.

Alina Rudya’s works have been exhibited worldwide as well as published in numerous international publications such as Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, LensCulture, BurnMagazine, Better Photography Magazine, La Repubblica, Lomography, Vice, L’Officiel, Vogue, and Deutsche Welle. She is the winner of the Android Photography Award as well as Smithsonian Photo Contest.

Her first photo book - Prypyat mon Amour – dedicated to people, evacuated from the ghost-town of Prypyat after the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident – was published by the DISTANZ publishing house (Berlin, Germany) in 2016. She is a co-founder and creative director of the English Travel guide to Ukrainian capital - Kyiv by Locals.
