Julia Nimke
One of a kind photographer and traveler
At the Berlin Travel Festival we have had the pleasure of working with many talented photographers over the years. But few have caught our attention and admiration like Julia Nimke. Her ability to capture the essence of a place and the people who call it home is truly remarkable. Julia’s work challenges us to see things in a different light and to discover the beauty in the unexpected.
We admire Julia not only for her technical skill, but also for her ability to evoke emotion through her images. Her work takes us to new places and lets us experience the world through her lens. In addition to her incredible work as a photographer, Julia is also an Adobe ambassador, which speaks to her talent and expertise in this field. Her style is distinctive and her photos are true works of art. We consider ourselves lucky to work with her for this year’s Berlin Travel Festival and look forward to her next works. As a travel fan, we asked her three questions about travelling. Here we go.

1. What does travelling mean to you, what feeling does it trigger in you?
Travelling means living for me. It is a state of full absorption of the new in absolute awareness of everything that is happening in the now. It brings me back to the feeling of being a child, where it was not about yesterday or tomorrow.
2. If you would have to choose: What was your most beautiful journey?
That’s difficult to answer because every trip was beautiful in itself and it’s mainly the type of trip (road trip, hiking, long-distance travel) and whether it was done solo or in company that decides how much it stays in my memory and/or has shaped me. I think back on each of my trips very fondly.
My favourite three trips are:
Backpacking through Vietnam for a month with my girlfriend: having so much time and being able to drift and explore the country at your leisure by hiking, motorbike tour, boat on the Mekong and by night bus is unforgettable
My solo road trip through the Balkans for one and a half months: so many countries, so much culture and nature unknown to me and such incredibly friendly people
Hiking the Ring of Kerry in Ireland with my best friend, carrying way too much luggage but laughing a lot, sleeping well in the middle of nature and telling countless anecdotes that I will always remember.
3. What is your most desired destination?
Patagonia!
