China, who are you?
When Simone Harre, a mother of two and an award-winning author, entered her place of longing, China, for the first time in 2014, she knew that she had to revise everything that she thought about the People’s Republic. She went in search of the “true” China. For five years she talked to Chinese people of all social classes – with millionaires, taxi drivers, artists, and outsiders. She sensitively sketches a diverse society, which is far too rarely brought up to eye level, and helps to better understand this still astonishingly unknown country.
Moderator and interviewer
Katie Gallus is a moderator, journalist, and geographer, living in Berlin. When she is not on the microphone and conducting interviews on development policy, curiosity drives her into the distance. This is where she looks for subtle undertones and meets “changemaker”. Most recently in Iraq, Eritrea, and Ethiopia.
More about her everyday life between political interviews and traveling to the ends of the world can be found on her Instagram account or website.
